Dolby ATMOS turns every note, instrument, and detail into a distinctive three-dimensional auditory adventure.
The optimal way to experience an ATMOS mix is through a 7.1.4 system, though you can still perceive the ATMOS effect with a binaural mix.
You must listen with headphones or earbuds. Binaural is a headphone-only playback format and will not sound good on speakers.

Dolby Atmos provides a three-dimensional audio experience, allowing sounds to come from all around and above the listener.
With Dolby Atmos, audio objects can be precisely positioned in a 3D space. This spatial precision allows artists to place instruments, vocals, and effects in specific locations, adding depth and clarity to the mix. It can also create a more natural and lifelike representation of how music might sound in a real-world environment.
There is a growing interest among consumers for high-quality, immersive audio experiences. By offering music in Dolby Atmos, artists and producers can cater to this demand and potentially attract a broader audience that values superior audio fidelity and innovation.
Apple Music pays artists and labels up to 10% more in royalties for music that's available in Spatial Audio, a format that's supported by Dolby Atmos. The change went into effect in January 2024 and applies to pro-rata shares for Spatial Available plays, which are calculated using a factor of 1.1, while Non-Spatial Available plays use a factor of 1. This means that even if no one listens to the Spatial version of a song, the artist will still receive the 10% bonus if all of their music is available in Spatial Audio.
